Cancellation Policy for Interpreting Assignments

Interpreters are in high demand for their services, whether they be spoken language interpreters or sign language interpreters. For that reason, Midwest Language Services, LLC must enforce a cancellation policy to ensure that interpreters are paid for the time they have reserved for your appointment and for missed opportunities to accept appointments for other clients.

Our agency realizes that sometimes people do not show up for their appointments. It is incumbent upon the client to call or send a reminder to the non-native English speaker to help ensure that they arrive promptly for their appointment on the assigned day at the correct time.

  • The cancellation policy is that if an appointment is cancelled within a 48 hour time frame of the appointed time, an invoice for the full amount (a minimum of two hours) will be issued, not including mileage.

To save money, consider signing up for our over-the-phone interpreting services, so that you may call an interpreter to speak with your client in their language to remind them of their appointments and to avoid charges for unexpected cancellations.

Please let us know if you have further questions and we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to working with you.

What is the benefit of having multiple interpreters?

Interpreting requires a high degree of concentration to hear and convey that message into another language. A team of interpreters switch off to avoid fatigue and help maintain consistency and accuracy of your message. Fatigue can be a major cause of inaccuracy, so we minimize risk of this happening by the scheduling the appropriate number of interpreters for your assignment.

The interpreter who is interpreting is the active interpreter and the other interpreter is the support interpreter. Without relief, it is unrealistic to expect an interpreters to consistently accurate interpretation.

Assignments lasting longer than two hours will be assigned two interpreters.
