Our Team

We work with a large network of translators and interpreters across the United States.

Here are some of our local team members based in Indiana and Michigan.

Tanya Hoover, founder of midwest language services, LLC

Tanya Hoover holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Purdue University and is a native speaker of English. Her mother was a Japanese interpreter and translator in both the United States and in Japan.

Tanya started her teaching career overseas in 1993 and later established Midwest Language Services, LLC in 2006 after starting the company as a sole proprietorship in 2004.

jessica back, administrative assistant

Her strengths lie in organization and communication. She is the newest addition to our team and is your main point of contact for requesting an interpreter. Contact us to request an interpreter at info@midwestlanguageservices.com at least one week in advance, if possible. We receive many requests for interpreters, so to help ensure we have someone available for your appointment, please book one early. Same-day requests are better served with our over-the-phone interpreting services if you have already set up an over-the-phone interpreting account with us.

Lauren Li, English language instructor

Lauren is an English Language Instructor at Midwest Language Services, LLC.  She joined the company in 2012 and currently teaches both in-person and online private and group lessons.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies from DePauw University in 2007, she went on to earn a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate from IUPUI in 2008. Lauren started teaching English while living abroad in Japan, where she also founded an eikaiwa or English conversation class for her neighborhood community.  This experience inspired her to connect with people through a mutual exchange of language and culture.

When she is not teaching ESL classes at our company, Lauren likes to volunteer her time helping the local refugee population by teaching lessons on English language and American culture.

Melanie Chacon, english language instructor

Melanie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in speech and drama from Marian University. She continued at Indiana University to earn her Master of Science degree in Education. In addition, Melanie has given presentations about differentiating instruction at a local college and has also made a presentation about improving classroom practice for the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) annual convention in Chicago. Melanie began teaching for Midwest Language Services, LLC in 2013 and currently teaches online, private lessons, and group classes.
