Our team includes a vast network of professional interpreters and translators based in the United States and internationally.
Here are a few of our local team members, not including our team of translators and interpreters.
Tanya Hoover, Founder of midwest language services
Tanya Hoover holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Purdue University and is a native speaker of English. Her mother was a Japanese interpreter and translator in both the United States and in Japan.
Tanya started her teaching career overseas in 1993 and began teaching English as a Second Language as a sole proprietor in 2004. Later, she established Midwest Language Services, LLC in 2006.
In her previous careers, Tanya was an elementary school teacher, a sales executive, an editor, and the owner of a vintage shop in historic Fountain Square in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Lauren Li, English language instructor
Lauren is an English Language Instructor at Midwest Language Services, LLC. She joined the company in 2012 and currently teaches both in-person and online private and group lessons.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies from DePauw University in 2007, she went on to earn a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate from IUPUI in 2008. Lauren started teaching English while living abroad in Japan, where she also founded an eikaiwa or English conversation class for her neighborhood community. This experience inspired her to connect with people through a mutual exchange of language and culture.
When she is not teaching ESL classes at our company, Lauren likes to volunteer her time helping the local refugee population by teaching lessons on English language and American culture.
